# Circuit Garden electronic music pack: media-pack production guide

## Purpose

Produce a standardized, rights-cleared pack that lets every student complete the same guided workflows while retaining creative choices in the capstone. Large media is distributed by the institution; this repository contains the brief, manifest, checks, and assessment materials only.

## Required content

Rights-cleared one-shots, field recordings, vocal fragments, MIDI motif cards, tempo and form prompts, synthesis constraints, delivery brief, and sample license manifest.

Expected storage: Approximately 4 GB including frozen and rendered project states.

## Production requirements

- Create all source media specifically for teaching or secure a license permitting classroom redistribution and student portfolio use.
- Retain contributor releases, music and sample licenses, location permissions, and creator credits in 01_ADMIN/rights.
- Preserve authentic metadata, timecode, sample rate, channel layout, slates, reports, and filenames required by the taught workflow.
- Provide untouched source media, a checksum manifest, an instructor reference project, and a verified reference output.
- Keep faults intentional, reversible, documented in an instructor-only key, and absent from the untouched originals.
- Test all media and projects on a clean institution lab account with network access disabled after download.
- Do not include private personal information, real confidential production data, or assets whose license depends on a student-owned account.

## Intentional fault fixtures

- M1-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "A clip is visible but not heard". Instructor resolution evidence: Trace clip launch state, track activator, monitoring, device chain, mixer, routing, crossfader assignment, and Main output.
- M1-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Arrangement is greyed out during playback". Instructor resolution evidence: Session clips have taken control; use Back to Arrangement deliberately after deciding which timeline should play.
- M1-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Samples are missing on another computer". Instructor resolution evidence: Use Manage Files and Collect All and Save, then test the project from a different path.
- M2-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "The beat feels unstable". Instructor resolution evidence: Keep core anchors deterministic and reduce probability, microtiming, or competing syncopation on structural events.
- M2-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Groove changes the wrong notes". Instructor resolution evidence: Adjust groove timing/velocity amounts, use separate clips, or commit and edit only selected events.
- M2-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Drum Rack clips overload the Main". Instructor resolution evidence: Balance pad chains, review choke behavior, remove duplicate layers, and preserve headroom before bus processing.
- M3-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Warped transients smear". Instructor resolution evidence: Use fewer markers, align true transients, select a suitable mode, and avoid extreme local stretching.
- M3-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Bass changes level across notes". Instructor resolution evidence: Review filter resonance, key tracking, oscillator phase behavior, envelope, velocity mapping, and monitoring room modes.
- M3-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Macros produce unusable extremes". Instructor resolution evidence: Reduce mapped ranges, invert or scale relationships deliberately, and test every combination at controller limits.
- M4-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Arrangement keeps returning to Session clips". Instructor resolution evidence: Stop or deactivate Session clips and use Back to Arrangement only when the linear timeline should regain control.
- M4-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Transitions happen late". Instructor resolution evidence: Review global and clip quantization, launch timing, scene preparation, and whether the performance gesture anticipates the boundary.
- M4-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Follow actions create incoherent combinations". Instructor resolution evidence: Limit the source group, probabilities, and allowed transitions; keep formal anchors outside the generative system.
- M5-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Automation appears but does not play". Instructor resolution evidence: Check automation mode, Re-Enable Automation, clip versus track envelopes, device state, and Arrangement Override.
- M5-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "The drop lacks impact despite being louder". Instructor resolution evidence: Create contrast before the arrival through subtraction, register, tension, and spectral space rather than only gain.
- M5-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "CPU overload causes clicks". Instructor resolution evidence: Freeze tracks, increase buffer for mixing, remove redundant devices, inspect oversampling, and avoid printing glitches into resamples.
- M6-F1: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Collected project still misses plugins". Instructor resolution evidence: Differentiate samples from devices; freeze or bounce approved compatibility tracks and document required third-party versions.
- M6-F2: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Stem sum differs from the master". Instructor resolution evidence: Review Main processing, return routing, sidechains, group processing, normalization, and stem export method.
- M6-F3: Create a reversible fixture demonstrating "Export contains silence or wrong range". Instructor resolution evidence: Set Arrangement start/end explicitly and check locator, loop, selection, and render settings before every version.

## Release checklist
