Overview

Most EQ and compression works on the left and right channels directly. Mid-side (M/S) processing instead splits a stereo signal into what's identical between the channels (mid, effectively the mono centre) and what's different (side, the stereo width), letting you shape the centre of a mix completely independently from its sides.
