Guglielmo Marconi (1874โ1937) combined existing elements โ a spark transmitter, an elevated aerial, an earth connection, a coherer receiver and tuning โ into a wireless telegraphy system that worked over progressively greater distances, and built the commercial organisation that made it a service.
