Stock plugins get overlooked, and the best free third-party plugins get buried under paid-plugin marketing. This is a plain download directory: the capable processors already bundled with every major DAW, followed by the free bundles and standalone plugins worth installing around them. Every developer and plugin name links straight to its official download page. Stock plugins have no separate download. They ship with the DAW, so each DAW name links to where you get it.

What You Need

A VST3/AU/AAX-compatible DAW (Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reaper, and others).
Mac or Windows. Most plugins support both. Per-plugin exceptions are noted below.

DAW Stock Plugins

Logic Pro

Included with Logic Pro (macOS). The stock Channel EQ is a full parametric EQ with analyzer, and the Compressor bundles Platinum, 1176-style (Studio FET), and LA-2A-style (Vintage Opto) circuit emulations in one plugin. Chromaglow adds analog-style saturation, the Loudness Meter handles LUFS delivery checks, and the stock Noise Gate, Limiter, and Chorus round out a complete in-the-box chain.

Pro Tools

Included with Pro Tools (and the free Pro Tools Intro). Lo-Fi is a genuinely useful bit-crushing and aliasing distortion for texture and sound design. AIR Fazer and AIR Ensemble are dependable modulation effects that turn up in professional sessions far more than their bundled status suggests.

Ableton Live
